CHICAGO — Residents evacuated a Lakeview high-rise apartment building after a fire broke out in one of the units Thursday night, fire officials said.
The fire at 2800 N. Lake Shore Drive was contained to one apartment on the third floor of the 670-unit building. The fire broke out around 7:30 p.m., and was extinguished at 8:16, fire officials said.
Though an EMS Plan 1, in which five ambulances are dispatched, was called, no one was injured, fire officials say.
As of 2010, the building had plans to make upgrades to bring it into compliance with the city's fire safety codes, the Tribune reported.
