CHICAGO — A Rogers Park man accused of sneaking up on and sexually assaulting a women as she walked home from the train was arrested while biking away from the crime scene, authorities said.

Michael Dixon, 37, of the 1300 block of West Estes Avenue, was collared by police in the 6800 block of North Sheridan. He was charged with felony aggravated criminal sexual assault, attempted robbery and misdemeanor battery.

Prosecutors say Dixon's victim, a 20-year-old woman, was walking home from the train at 4:20 a.m. Sunday when she sensed someone behind her in the 1400 block of West Albion.

She got one foot into the vestibule of her apartment building when Dixon forced her against a wall. He told her he had a gun and not to scream, prosecutors said

He demanded money, and then groped and assaulted her as she tried to fight him off with her keys, prosecutors said.

Dixon fled, but the victim was able to call 911 and give police his description, authorities said.

Officers responding to the woman's 911 call saw a man matching the attacker's description riding his bike in the 6800 block of North Sheridan Road. Police detained the man, who later was identified as the alleged attacker.

Police also issued Dixon a citation for riding his bicycle on the sidewalk.

Judge Donald Panarese Jr. ordered Dixon held on $500,000 bond Monday.
