UPTOWN — The Swedish American Museum in Andersonville is offering 15-week Swedish language classes for beginners and advanced speakers.

The classes consist of weekly 90-minute sessions and begin the first week of September. The cost is $205 for museum members and $240 for non-members, the museum said.

Two of the classes are beginner-level courses taught in English.

The "Beginners I" class is scheduled every Tuesday from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. for students with no previous knowledge of the language. Students will be taught "basic grammar, vocabulary, conversation, Swedish culture and traditions," according to the museum.

The "Beginners II" class is scheduled on Tuesdays from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. for students with some grasp of basic Swedish grammar and vocabulary, and "will emphasize speaking in Swedish," the museum said.

For folks with a stronger handle on the Swedish language, intermediate level classes focused on advanced grammar and vocabulary will be taught in both Swedish and English every Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

And advanced classes taught entirely in Swedish are scheduled from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. every Wednesday for students with intermediate-level skills who want to hone their skills through "advanced conversation, discussions, reading and comparisons of Swedish and American culture and traditions," according to the museum.
