CHICAGO — A Back of the Yards man died days after his motorcycle crashed into the guard rail of an entrance ramp to I-55 Saturday, officials said.

Juan Cruz, 25, was heading northbound on Lake Shore Drive when he took the on-ramp for I-55 southbound about 7:47 p.m. Saturday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office and Illinois State Police.

It appeared "the bike was traveling too fast to navigate the curve of the ramp," and Cruz crashed into the guard rail on the right shoulder of the ramp, said a spokeswoman for the Illinois State Police.

Cruz, of the 4800 block of South Seeley Avenue, was pronounced dead at 4:10 a.m. Monday at Stroger Hospital, according to the medical examiner's office.
