CHICAGO — A man was shot in Roseland Thursday morning as he tried to run from a robber, police said.

A man approached the 22-year-old victim and demanded his money in the 200 block of East 115th Street, said Officer Daniel O'Brien, a Chicago Police Department spokesman.

When the man tried to run away, the robber shot him in the leg, O'Brien said. The incident happened about 10:56 a.m.

The man was taken in serious-to-critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Chicago Fire Department spokesman Will Knight said.

No one was in custody for the shooting as of Thursday afternoon, and no description of the robber was available.
