CHICAGO — Burglars broke into a North Lawndale elementary school twice earlier this week and stole copper pipes, police said in a community alert.

Johnson Elementary School was broken into through a window sometime between 2:30 p.m. and 8 a.m. Friday into Saturday and again Monday into Tuesday, according to the alert. Police gave the address as 1504 S. Albany Ave., which is on part of the school's campus.

Whoever broke in, then damaged the walls to steal copper pipes, police said. Police did not give a description of any suspects.

Cops asked anyone with information to call 312-747-8380.
