CHICAGO — Cops have issued a community alert to Lincoln Park residents after an attempted sexual assault that happened early Sunday.

A man tried to sexually assault a woman in the 2100 block of North Magnolia Avenue about 12:33 a.m. Sunday as she waited for her friend to return home, according to the alert. It was unclear how she got away or what stopped the attack, and authorities did not give her age.

Cops described the man who tried to attack her as Hispanic with a dark complexion and black hair, 40 to 44 years old, 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-10 tall and weighing 120 to 150 pounds.

Police asked anyone with information to call 312-747-8380.
