THE LOOP — Chicago firefighters will take to the streets Friday, standing at intersections in the Loop, and hold out their boots to ask for donations to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

The effort is part of the "Fill the Boot" campaign, which is in its 59th year.

The association uses the money to fund neuromuscular disease research.

But it also provides care and services for families with muscular dystrophy, including support groups, camps and loaning equipment (wheelchairs, walkers, etc) and much more.
