Man Shot Dead in Grand Crossing Friday Afternoon

 A 27-year-old man was fatally shot in the chest at 1:19 p.m. in the 500 block of West Winneconna Parkway, officials said.

CHICAGO — A man was fatally shot in Grand Crossing Friday afternoon, officials said.

Police said a 27-year-old man was shot in the chest at 1:19 p.m. in the 7800 block of South Normal Avenue.

The victim was later identified as Kevin Williams, of the 11100 block of South Eggletson Avenue in Roseland, was pronounced dead on the scene at 5:05 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Neighbors said the man had just left a house when they heard gunshots. They thought the man was shot in the stomach and hit his head as he fell because of visual injuries to his head.

The man was dead on the scene, police said.
