Police Warn of Robberies and Burglaries on South Side

CHICAGO — Police issued a community alert after two businesses in the 2200 block of South Wentworth Avenue in Chinatown were burglarized during the overnight hours July 28. 

Police described the burglar as a white man from 30 to 40 years old who broke into the businesses by tampering with the front door's locks and then making off with loot from inside.

In separate incidents, two black men between the ages of 18 and 22 are suspected in robberies on the border of Back of the Yards and West Englewood.

About 4 a.m. July 29 in the 1900 block of West Garfield Boulevard, the two men physically threatened and then robbed an unidentified victim.

A similar robbery occurred about 10:15 p.m. that day in the 5300 block of South Damen Avenue.

The men were each described as 5-foot-9 and weighing 210 pounds.
