CLEARING — A man was arrested after a 6-hour standoff with police on the Southwest side, officials said.

About 11:15 p.m., police were called to a building in the 6000 block of South Harlem Avenue for a trespassing complaint, said Officer Amina Greer, a police spokeswoman.

After officers arrived, a man made his way to the building's roof and refused to leave, Greer said. Police were eventually able to take him into custody about 5:25 a.m.

The man was unarmed, and police did not immediately have details on whether the man had threatened to jump from the building's roof, Greer said.
