WICKER PARK —   From music on the streets to Shakespeare and puppet shows in the parks, a packed roster of events won't disappoint fun seekers in the Wicker Park, Bucktown and West Town neighborhoods this weekend.

Here's some highlights.

Friday

6 to 8:45 p.m. Wicker Mic Open Mic. Entertain the crowd with your best song or funniest joke at a monthly all-ages talent show in the park near the softball field.  1425 N. Damen Ave. Sign up is 5:45 p.m.

6 to 11 p.m.  The Goat Party.  Paying homage to the goat, the unofficial mascot of Bucktown, Friday's fundraiser is the lead-up to the Bucktown Arts Fest, which kicks off in late August and stands apart from other Chicago festivals as an all volunteer-run event.  Tickets are $50 and include beer, wine, food and entertainment.  Jackson Junge Gallery, 1389 N. Milwaukee Ave.

7:30 p.m.   "Death & Harry Houdini" features real illusions as it depicts Houdini's life from his youth to his death. Performances will be held Thursdays to Sundays, with varied times, until Aug. 11 at the Chopin Theatre, 1543 W. Division St. Tickets, available online, are $40.

9 p.m. "The S--- Show Comedy Showcase."  A long running comedy show will be bidding goodbye to it's 'other half' as co-host Ever Mainard moves on to Los Angeles.  The evening includes a mix of stand-up comedy with character acting, prize giveaways and audience participation. Free. The Shambles, 2048 W. Division St.

Saturday

11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Nosh, a weekly artisan food festival, lands in the parking lot of Pritzker School in Wicker Park and offers sandwiches, lobster rolls, tamales, sweets, cold soups and more.  Pritzker School, 2009 W. Schiller St. Free.

Noon to 10 p.m.  Wicker Park Fest takes place Saturday and Sunday along Milwaukee Avenue from North Avenue to Paulina Street.  Residents are advised to review parking restrictions and street closures here.

On tap are three stages of live music (lineup here), food and merchandise vendors, a large kids' fest and performances by Redmoon Theatre. Music headliners include Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, Mucca Pazza, Roky Erickson, Meat Puppets, and more. The fest is free, with a $5 suggested donation.  For photos from last year's fest, click here.

Sunday

8 a.m. to 2 pm. Wicker Park Farmers Market.  Go early for the best picks (like Chef Rick Bayless did last Sunday when he tweeted a video of his "phenomenal haul" from the market), which features several vendors offering fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, cheeses, flowers and crepes. The market is located at 1501 N. Damen Ave.

9 a.m., 11 a.m. Magic Boat Puppet Show.  The puppet show featuring "Brother Bear" and "Brother Rabbit" returns to Wicker Park for two free performances at 9 and 11 a.m. Find the action near the park playground at 1425 N. Damen Ave.

Noon to 5 p.m. Wood Street Garden Walk. The annual garden walk tour will stop at NeighborSpace's GreenHouse Garden and Frankie Machine garden. Check out the full 2013 garden tour schedule here. For more information on the Wood Street Walk,
