Downtown Robberies Lead to Police Alert

CHICAGO — The Chicago Police Department is urging retail establishments in The Loop to remain vigilant after a spate of group-organized attempted thefts.

The groups of teens used force or the threat of force in their attempts to shoplift, according to police.

They are described as long-haired black females, ages 16-19, with approximate heights of 5 feet, 4 inches to 5 feet, 7 inches.

The three incidents took place in the 100 block of North Wabash Avenue on June 24 at 4 p.m., the 100 block of East Madison Street on July 16 at 11:30 a.m., and the 100 block of South State Street on July 19 about 12:20 p.m.
