LAKEVIEW — The group tasked with reviving Clark Street south of Barry is inviting neighbors to another open house on Thursday to give further feedback on the project.
North Clark Street Task Force, run by the Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce, will host a presentation and comment session from 6-8 p.m. at 2865 N. Clark St., between McKillip Animal Hospital and Osteria De Pizza Metro.
Landscape and urban planning consultants The Lakota Group will tell neighbors what they learned in previous feedback sessions, said David Collins, community development manager at the chamber — including from an open house on May 1 at which some residents called parts of the street "ugly."
Clark Street needs "parking lot enhancement" around Clark, Barry and Halsted, for example, Collins said. People thought Clark Street south of Wellington was "confusing" for its narrow sidewalk and sudden transformation into "almost a suburban-like plaza," he said.
"It’s not about what I feel is important," Collins said. "It’s about what participants feel is important."
Thursday's session will also feature the Lakota Group's ideas for fixes such as where to add more greenery, which neighbors can provide input on.
The goal of the task force is to create a plan to revitalize the commercial street.
