CHICAGO — A 51-year-old man died early Sunday after he was struck by an SUV in Avondale, police said.

The man, identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office as Ronald Lee Hurbert, had been walking in a crosswalk in the 3000 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, said Officer Ron Gaines, a police spokesman.

A dark-colored Chevy Suburban with blue headlights hit the man about 12:07 a.m. and fled the scene, Gaines said.

The victim was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 1:10 a.m. Sunday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

No one was in custody as of Sunday morning.
