SOUTH LOOP — The Roosevelt Collection, a commercial and residential plaza at 150 W. Roosevelt Road, got a new tenant Wednesday with the opening of an H&M.

The third downtown location for the chain was scheduled to open at noon with a bang: The first 100 shoppers in line for the opening will get an H&M T-shirt and a gift card worth somewhere between $10 and $300.

The Roosevelt Collection location will also offer customers discounts for donating unwanted clothing from any brand while shopping as part of its company-wide garment recycling initiative. Each bag of clothing earns donors a 15 percent off voucher for their next purchase.

For a short time, donations will also enter shoppers into a raffle for VIP passes to Pitchfork Music Festival.

H&M also has downtown stores in the Loop and in Gold Coast.

Aside from the ShowPlace ICON Theater that opened in 2009, the Roosevelt Collection's 330,000 feet of commercial space has been largely vacant since the empty property was sold in early 2011. However, more retail is scheduled to open soon.
