THE LOOP — The downtown stretch of Michigan Avenue has almost every convenience a Chicagoan (or visitor) could ask for.

Unless you're craving a Whopper. Then you'll have to trek up to the Thompson Center or south into Chinatown to hit the city's nearest Burger Kings.

Soon, the trip will be a lot shorter — but instead of traveling south or west, the newest BK will require a brief journey underground.

A new franchise is in the works in the Millennium Metra Station below Randolph Street and Michigan Avenue.

A Burger King spokesperson couldn't supply an opening date, but construction crews on site Wednesday were working in the kitchen. Everything else looked close to completion, and signage has already been hung on the windows.

The restaurant's located at storefront C18, bordered to the right by a Chase Bank branch and to the left by an Armand's Pizza. Subway and Taco Fresco offer other options right nearby to Metra travelers.
