CHICAGO — Five robberies in Bridgeport since Friday have led police to issue a community alert.
The incidents have been similar in nature, police said: A man has approached one to two women and taken their purses, police said. The man often came from and fled in a car.
The robberies took place on the following dates:
• Friday, in the 300 block of West 25th Place;
• Saturday, in the 400 block of West 25th Place;
• Sunday, in the 4500 block of South Western Avenue;
• and on Monday, in the 300 block of West 24th Place and in the 500 block of West 26th Street.
Police said the man has been described as a white or Hispanic, between the ages of 25 and 40 years old, 5-foot-6 to 6-foot-4 tall and 170 and 225 pounds.
