McKINLEY PARK — A 24-year-old man is dead after a motorcycle crash in McKinley Park Monday afternoon.

He was identified as Joel Ibarra of the 2900 block of West 36th Street, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

About 3:15 p.m. Monday, Ibarra was riding southbound in the 3500 block of West Archer Avenue at a high speed when he struck a car attempting to make a left turn, police said.

Ibarra flipped over the hood and was thrown from his bike, said Officer John Mirabelli, a police spokesman.

Ibarra was found unresponsive and was taken to Stroger Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 3:45 p.m.

The driver whose car Ibarra struck was ticketed with making an improper turn, Mirabelli said.
