CHICAGO — Three men were injured in separate incidents in Lakeview early Sunday morning, including a pair of men who were attacked with bottles, police said.

The first incident took place at 2:15 a.m. near the intersection of West Sheridan Road and North Broadway, said Officer Jose Estrada, a police spokesman. The man was found on the sidewalk with a wound in the back of his head. He was taken in critical condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital.

Police sources said the man was uncooperative with both police and first responders, refusing to give his name or how he suffered the injury.

Two men were injured with bottles in a second incident, Estrada said.

The men, ages 21 and 25, were sitting on a curb in the 900 block of West Belmont Avenue. One of the men was talking on a cell phone when a group of three males approached the pair. One of the group grabbed the phone, and the group ran away, Estrada said.

The victims chased the group, catching up with one of them in the 3200 block of North Sheffield Avenue. Once they caught him, they tried to detain him until police arrived. While they waiting for police, a group approached them and began attacking the victims with bottles.

Both men suffered lacerations to their faces, and were taken in serious condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital, Estrada said.

Police arrested three people, and the investigation is ongoing, he said.
