THE LOOP — A woman on crutches tumbled to the ground on North State Street Tuesday when a man accused of stealing her iPhone allegedly knocked her off balance while grabbing the device.

Cops on bicycle patrol quickly caught up with Clayton Jones, 23, as he tried to flee, according to court records. After they stopped him, Jones allegedly repeatedly stated, "What did I steal?"

About 5 p.m., the 39-year-old woman on crutches was near a curb in the 100 block of North State Street looking at her cellphone when a man forcefully grabbed the phone from her hand, causing her to lose balance and fall to the ground, police said.

Cops on bicycles were waved down by someone who told them about the attack, and they quickly arrested  Jones, who was charged with robbery, according to police.

The woman, who was checked by EMTs at the scene, plans to visit her own doctor to determine the extent of her injuries.

Jones, of the 7200 block of South Luella Avenue, was ordered held on $100,000 bond by Cook County Judge Israel Desierto on Wednesday.
