CHICAGO — A 30-year-old man killed in Marquette Park was one of at least six people wounded in shootings across the city since Thursday afternoon, police said.

The man, who police believe was in a gang, was walking on the sidewalk in the 6300 block of South Francisco Avenue about 10:35 p.m. when a gunman approached and fired multiple shots, police said.

The man took a bullet in his head, said Officer John Mirabelli, a police spokesman. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:15 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

His identity had not been released Friday morning. Police had no one in custody for the shooting.

In other shootings, police received a call about 2:13 a.m. Friday from a woman at a West Englewood gas station near 71st Street and Ashland Avenue who saw a man shot in his neck, Mirabelli said.

The 26-year-old man was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Mirabelli said.

The man told police he was shot outside of a nightclub in the 6600 block of South State Street, but police found neither bullet casings nor a nightclub in that area, Mirabelli said.

Shortly after midnight, a 28-year-old man was shot on a Woodlawn porch in the 6500 block of South Eberhart Avenue, Mirabelli said. He is listed in "stable" condition at Stroger Hospital.

The shooter is believed to be a known acquaintance of the victim's girlfriend, Mirabelli said.

At 10:30 p.m. Thursday in Englewood, a 22-year-old man was shot in his left leg in the 1200 block of West 73rd Place, Mirabelli said.

Two attackers shot at him as he ran through a vacant lot. He was sent to Saint Bernard Hospital and Healthcare Center, police said.

About the same time in South Shore, a 34-year-old man's head was grazed by a bullet in the 1600 block of East 70th Street, Mirabelli said.

A group approached the man and asked him for a cigarette, Mirabelli said. After he pulled out a pack, one of the people snatched it while another took his wallet, Mirabelli said.

Another fired a gun at him, grazing him in the head. The man was taken to Jackson Park Hospital and no one is in custody, Mirabelli said.

At 3:30 p.m., a woman holding a baby was shot in the 1700 block of East 93rd Place in Pill Hill.
