CHICAGO — The bodies of two men found in Lake Michigan Thursday night were identified Friday by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Ramon Benavidez, 32, was pulled from the water near Belmont Harbor about 5 p.m. Thursday. He was taken to St. Joseph Hospital, where he was pronounced dead about an hour later, officials said.

A cause of death for Benavidez is pending a toxicology test, according to the medical examiner's office.

Also around 5 p.m. Thursday, a man's body was spotted by people in a sailboat about 300 feet off of Montrose Harbor.

The body of Mark Warrian, 52, of Oak Park, was pulled from the water in an "advanced state of decomposition," officials said.

Warrian's autopsy result was pending further studies.

Both cases were proceeding as death investigations, police said.
