UPTOWN — The inaugural Pivot Multi-Arts Festival is scheduled to debut Thursday, kicking off a 17-day celebration of music, theater, dance and more across Uptown and Edgewater.

Pivot Arts, the non-profit organization behind the festival, was established in September with the mission of serving as "a pivot point, or central hub, that could connect innovative arts activity," in Uptown, Andersonville and Edgewater.

The festival will run June 6-22 and features an eclectic slate of events, including performances by the Neo-Futurists, the People's Music School, Mad Shak dance company and punk marching band Mucca Pazza.

Pivot also plans to bring festival-goers to events in several historic spaces in Uptown, including the 104-year-old former bank building at 1050 W. Wilson Ave. that was a vaudevillian theater in another life, and a local gem housed in St. Augustine's College — Essanay Studios — also known as silent film era legend Charlie Chaplin's old stomping grounds.
