CHICAGO — Police say they are giving extra attention to catching drunk drivers in the Austin District this weekend.
The DUI Strike Force Patrol will start at 8 p.m. Friday and end at 4 a.m. Saturday.
Officers will watch for drivers exhibiting signs of impaired driving, according to a police statement.
During DUI Strike Force Patrols, officers "place emphasis on speed, alcohol-related and safety belt violations."
A May 24-25 DUI Strike Force Patrol in the South Chicago District resulted in 116 total citations, including two DUIs, 38 traffic violations and 19 unsafe vehicle violations, police said.
