CHICAGO — A man who crashed his car into a dental office on the Southwest Side Monday night was charged with DUI, possession of marijuana along with a number of other misdemeanors, cops said.

Witnesses saw a man ignore a stop sign at 59th Street and Komensky Avenue and slam his minivan into the Silver Lake Dental Office at 4020 W. 59th St., said officer John Mirabelli, a police spokesman.

The 32-year-old Southwest Side man then abandoned the minivan, a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country, Mirabelli said.

Mirabelli said cops found him walking a short distance away from the scene. His identity is not being released because the investigation is still ongoing, Mirabelli said.

The driver was charged with misdemeanor DUI and possession of marijuana, Mirabelli said. He was also cited with failure to reduce speed, failure to stop at a stop sign, failure to report an accident and striking property, police said.

The man could still face even more citations, Mirabelli said. He's due in traffic court June 18.
