MIDWAY AIRPORT — A 52-year-old Oklahoma man who was killed after he was struck by a cab near Midway Airport late Monday night has been identified.
Janusz Kamienski, 56, of Yukon, Okla., was pronounced dead at the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office at 3:10 a.m. Tuesday.
Police were called about 11:28 p.m. after the man was hit in the 5200 block of South Cicero Avenue, said Officer Ron Gaines, a police spokesman.
Gaines said the man was crossing in the middle of the block and did not use a crosswalk.
The driver, who was identified by police as Lester Brown, 75, of the 6800 block of South Indiana Avenue, was ticketed for striking a pedestrian and driving too fast for conditions.
Brown is due in traffic court on July 24.
