UPTOWN — Chicago real estate firm @properties has a new home in the middle of Uptown.
The firm's newest location at 4705 N. Broadway, in the Uptown Broadway Building, will help the company as it "looks to build on its leading market share in Uptown and neighboring communities including Edgewater, Andersonville, Ravenswood, Rogers Park and Lincoln Square," according to a news release.
“Between the improving market and some major new development proposals, we believe Uptown is really on the [up and up], and this office puts @properties in the middle of the action," company co-founder Michael Golden said in a statement.
So far in 2013, @properties said the firm has a 18.4 percent market share in Uptown, a 23.6 percent market share in Edgewater and a 14.5 percent share in Lincoln Square. The numbers were based on closed sales volume.
In 2012, the company reported the highest sales volume in its history. The firm reported sales of about $2 billion via about 5,100 transactions, an increase of 34 percent and 31 percent respectively compared to 2011.
The Uptown Broadway building was designed by architect Walter W. Ahlschlager and built in 1926. It boasts an ornate terra cotta facade and is rumored to have been home to an Al Capone speakeasy.
The building is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
