EDGEWATER — A man died early Tuesday morning after falling 16 stories from a building in the Edgewater neighborhood, authorities said.

It is still unclear whether the man jumped or fell from the apartment building in the 6200 block of North Kenmore Avenue, according to Officer Hector Alfaro, a police spokesman.

Alfaro said police were called to the scene of the possible suicide about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday. The Cook County Medical Examiner's office did not provide the man's name early Tuesday morning.

The man was not affiliated with Loyola University, spokeswoman Maeve Kiley said Tuesday morning.
