CHICAGO — Two children and three others were injured in a five-car collision on the Northwest Side Tuesday morning, police said.

They were hurt after five cars were involved in a crash in the 5100 block of West Addison Street in Portage Park about 8 a.m., said Officer Michael Sullivan, a police spokesman.

Police did not offer further details about the accident early Tuesday afternoon.

A 12-year-old boy suffered lacerations to his head and was taken to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge in serious condition, and a 13-year-old girl was taken to Lurie Children's Hospital in serious condition with cuts to her face, Sullivan said.

A man of unknown age was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center in serious condition with injuries to his knee, chest and mouth, Sullivan said. Sullivan said two others were taken to Resurrection Hospital in "stable" condition.
