WICKER PARK — A wine cafe that closed in December plans to reopen as a taproom specializing in craft beer and house-made sausages.

A public notice for a liquor license for the new Links Taproom went up a few days ago in the window of 1559 N. Milwaukee Ave., just south of the Milwaukee-Damen-North intersection.

Sandwiched between a Dr. Martens shoe store and a Jimmy John's sandwich shop, the small brick storefront formerly home to Bin Wine Cafe had a "closed for remodeling" sign in its window until recently.

Mike Quinlan, a managing partner for Links Taproom, was unable to divulge whether Bin Wine Cafe is still involved in the space.

But Quinlan did release some details about the new taproom:

"Links Taproom will feature 32 American craft beers on tap, four cask beers, four tap wines and a large-format bottled beer list built for sharing," he said. "Links will serve house-made sausages and hand-cut French fries from our kitchen, where everything is made from scratch."

Links Taproom is planning to open in the late summer or early fall, Quinlan said.
