CHICAGO — A South Chicago man has died four days after he was run over by a car, and police are calling his death a homicide.
Andrew Prather, 26, of the 8700 block of South Burley Avenue, was hit Sunday and succumbed to his injuries Thursday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy noted Prather suffered head injuries that lead to his death.
Two groups of people were arguing in the 9100 block of South LaSalle Street in Roseland on Sunday afternoon, said Officer Ron Gaines, a police spokesman. After the argument escalated, Prather was intentionally run over by a car about 1:50 p.m., Gaines said.
He was taken to Advocate Christ Hospital and Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
No one is in custody, Gaines said. Police are investigating.
