Las Vegas Schools Recruiter Wants Chicago Teachers

By Jackie Kostek | April 26, 2013 12:21pm | Updated on April 26, 2013 2:31pm

CHICAGO — Attention, Chicago teachers: Charity Varnado wants to meet you!

The Clark County School District's chief recruiter — who's in town for an educational conference and to interview Chicago teachers for Las Vegas teaching gigs — said she's had a steady stream of applicants from Chicago.

"We've had a great response so far," said Varnado.

Varnado said her team in Las Vegas had been following the story of the Chicago Public Schools closures and was ready to begin recruiting teachers when the closure list was released. The school closures are expected to affect about 1,000 teachers.

"With the experienced culture here, and their level of experience and skills, we could use the high quality teachers in Las Vegas, and I know they're here in Chicago," said Varnado.
