CHICAGO — A woman who claims she was injured on an ill-fated trip on a Megabus that crashed on Interstate 55 last year has sued the popular bus company.

In the suit filed Wednesday in Cook County Circuit Court, Yanzin (Amy) Zhou claims she suffered injuries that left her “disabled and disfigured” when the bus en route from Chicago to St. Louis blew a tire and slammed into a bridge pillar on Interstate 55.

Aditi R. Avhad, a 25-year-old graduate student from the University of Missouri, was killed, and many more passengers were injured.

The suit did not specify the nature of Zhou’s injuries.

In addition to Megabus, Zhou names as defendants tire maker Bridgestone Americas Tire Operation, the bus driver, Preston Taylor, and Coach USA, which owns Megabus.

The lawsuit does not specify the amount of money Zhou is seeking in damages.

Neither attorneys for Megabus nor company officials were immediately available for comment.
