WEST PULLMAN — A man is in serious condition after being shot late Tuesday night, police said.

Authorities were called to the 12300 block of South Union Avenue in the West Pullman neighborhood at 11:55 p.m. and found a 20-year-old man who had been shot in the right side of his abdomen.

The man told police he was standing on the sidewalk near the corner of 69th and Halsted streets in Englewood when shots rang out, according to Officer Amina Greer, a police spokeswoman. The man told police he ran to his girlfriend's car after he realized he was shot, Greer said.

Greer said the man was given a ride to West Pullman, where he was found by authorities.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition.

No one was in custody in connection with the shooting as of Wednesday morning.
