CHICAGO — Heavy fog will roll through Chicago during Tuesday night's commute, the National Weather Service said.

Visibility may be less than a mile, and fog will be heaviest near the lake shore, according to the National Weather Service.

Drivers should use caution at "uncontrolled intersections" and railroad crossings, officials said.

Conditions will improve Tuesday evening as drier air moves across Chicago, the alert, issued at 4:07 p.m., said.
