CHICAGO — One person was hurt in a South Side school bus crash Monday morning not far from where a separate fatal crash occurred the night before, authorities said.

The school bus was heading northbound when it crashed near the intersection of 39th Street and Kedzie Avenue sometime before 8:10 a.m., said Officer Michael Sullivan, a Chicago Police spokesman.

Three children were on board, but none was hurt, Sullivan said. The details of the accident were not available, according to Sullivan.

One person was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in good condition, Chicago Fire Department spokeswoman Meg Ahlheim said. The age and gender of the victim were not immediately available, though the victim is believed to be an adult.

On Sunday, a man from West Lawn was killed in a car crash less than a mile away in the 4400 block of South Archer Avenue. Alexander Ruiz, 28, of the 5900 block of South Keeler Avenue was pronounced dead that night, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
