ABC Pilot 'Doubt' to Film in Lakeview This Week

By Serena Dai | March 26, 2013 9:56am

LAKEVIEW — Watch out for film crews in the neighborhood this week.

The legal drama pilot "Doubt" for ABC will be shooting at Roscoe and Clark through Friday, according to an alert from Ald. Tom Tunney (44th). The show, written by "House" creator David Shore, will be about a cop-turned-lawyer who uses street smarts to work the system for his clients, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Stars of the show include Steve Coogan as Vincent, the cop-turned-lawyer, Carla Gugino of the miniseries "Political Animals" as his no-nonsense ex-wife, Greg Grunberg of "Heroes" as Vincent's well-meaning older brother and Oscar and Tony-winner Mercedes Ruehl as a mother figure and fellow lawyer.

During filming near 3374 N. Clark St., location of now-shuttered Irish bar Johnny O'Hagan's, parking will not be allowed on:

  • The east side of Sheffield from Clark to School.
  • Both sides of Roscoe from 920 W. Roscoe to Seminary.
  • Both sides of Clark from Roscoe to 3340 N. Clark.
  • The north side of Buckingham from Clark to 866 W. Buckingham.
  • The alley behind 3374 N. Clark St.

Filming starts at 9 p.m. Tuesday and ends at 1 a.m. Friday.

Two other ABC pilots were set to film in Chicago — "Betrayal" and "Influence." Several homes in Bucktown were also scouted for "Doubt."

Rich Moskal, director of the Chicago Film Office, has previously said dozens of pilots get produced each season and many don't make it on air, so "Doubt" might not necessarily return to Lakeview.

If it does get picked up to be a series, crews will return after the Fourth of July holiday and will shoot for nine months of the year, Moskal has said.
