HUMBOLDT PARK — Four Humboldt Park schools have been slated for closure or consolidation, but CPS is giving school supporters another chance to voice their concerns.
There will be two community meetings and a public hearing for each school proposed for closure. Because Duprey and Von Humboldt are housed in the same buildings at 2620 W. Hirsch St., their meetings will be combined.
The rules laid out by CPS are as follows:
- Those who wish to to comment at the meetings must sign up beginning one hour before the meeting starts and up until one hour after the meeting begins.
- Speakers will have two minutes to comment unless the hearing officer grants an extension.
- The meeting will end at the stated end time or after the comments of the last speaker to sign up, whichever happens first.
Community Meetings and Public Hearings:
The Duprey Elementary School and Von Humboldt Elementary School community meetings will be from 5 to 8 p.m. April 9 and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 13 at Clemente High School, 1147 N. Western Ave.
The public hearing will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. April 24 at the CPS central office, 125 S. Clark St.
The Lafayette Elementary School community meetings will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. April 8 and April 12 at Clemente High School, 1147 N. Western Ave.
The public hearing will be held from 8 to 10 p.m. April 18 at the CPS central office, 125 S. Clark St.
The Ryerson Elementary School community meetings will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. April 8 and April 12 at Raby High School, 3545 W. Fulton Blvd.
The public hearing will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. April 29 at the CPS central office, 125 S. Clark St.
