COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A man posing as a cop in Chinatown faces criminal charges after a Ming Hin restaurant worker alerted police of his charade.

Hong Chu, 44, of the 3300 block of South Throop Street, was arrested Thursday wearing a polo shirt with a shamrock framed by the Chicago Police star and charged with impersonating a police officer, police and prosecutors said.

An employee at Ming Hin, a dim sum restaurant at 2168 S. Archer Ave., confirmed Monday that a Chu was hanging around outside. A worker reported Chu after he allegedly introduced himself as a Chicago police officer.

A spokeswoman from Cook County State's Attorney's Office said Chu was released on his own recognizance from custody on Friday.
