UPTOWN — A woman found dead in a driveway in Andersonville this week died an "accidental death," brought on by an earlier head injury, police sources told DNAinfo Chicago Friday.

The woman was found unresponsive in the 5400 block of North Ashland Avenue Tuesday evening, and taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead about 6:40 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

On Wednesday, detectives were seeking help identifying the woman. But Friday afternoon, the medical examiner's office identified her as 55-year-old Ruth Fricke, of the 5400 block of North Ashland Avenue.

It appears that the Andersonville woman had fallen and struck her head prior to being found in the driveway, according to a police source.

The driveway she was found in was just outside her apartment, according to the medical examiner.

The final results of Fricke's autopsy is pending completion of a police investigation, which police said is "still ongoing," but almost done.
