Ale Syndicate Rolls Out Brews Across the City

LOGAN SQUARE — Chicago's newest craft beer is now available in more than a dozen bars across the city with more soon to come.

Ale Syndicate, the new Logan Square-based brewer, announced last month it would start off with three new beers, and the first has arrived.

Richie Imperial Porter was available in 14 bars as of Wednesday, and that number is quickly growing.

"It's happening so fast," said Jesse Edwin Evans, one of two brothers who started the company. "It's really exciting."

He and his brother, Samuel Evans, have diligently been keeping beer lovers abreast of the new developments though social media and their website.

"It's cool because the beer will arrive then disappear within a day or two," Jesse Evans said.

Just around the corner from Ale Syndicate's new digs in the Green Exchange is one of two Logan Square bars pouring the Richie Imperial Stout, Owen and Engine.

"It's delicious," said bartender and manager John Von Tolley. "Very smooth for an imperial stout. It has a lighter body than expected."

After the Richie is all tapped out, the brewery will quickly follow with the Municipal IPA and the Sunday Session Ale, which just finished brewing at Galena Brewery in Galena, Evans said.

The brewery is one of two that has lent Ale Syndicate space to brew until the Green Exchange space is ready sometime later this year.

In the meantime, the next bars to begin serving Ale Syndicate are SmallBar Division in Ukrainian Village and Paramount Room in River West.

SmallBar Logan Square — actually in Avondale, depending on who you ask — is expected to follow soon.
