BRIDGEPORT — With White Sox Opening Day less than two weeks away, officials are reminding residents to pick up a free residential parking permit at the 11th Ward office.
It's a change from years past, when the ward would mail the permits to residents. Like last year, residents will now have to come to the office, 3659 S. Halsted St., with a valid Illinois driver's license or state ID with showing a local address to register for the program.
The general boundaries for areas rearing a permits are as follows: 29th Street to Pershing Road, and Morgan Street to Wentworth Avenue.
Also available at the ward office will be single-game passes, doled out upon request.
Ticketing generally begins three hours before and three hours after a game at U.S. Cellular Field. Motorists who don't heed the warning can face pricey parking tickets.
The White Sox home opener at The Cell is scheduled for 3:10 p.m. on April 1.
The office will host extended hours to accommodate the influx of residents in need of a pass. Here's a look at the schedule.
