LAKEVIEW — An elementary school teacher's credit cards were stolen from her classroom right as the school day was starting Monday, police said.

A teacher at Saint Luke Academy, a Lutheran elementary school at 1500 W. Belmont Ave., told police she saw two women walking out of her classroom around 8:30 a.m. Monday, police said. Classes start at 8:30 a.m., a volunteer at the school said.

When the teacher returned to the classroom, she realized items were missing, including her credit cards, police said.

"It's not the case of the century," police Sgt. Jason Clark said. "The more interesting part is how [the two women] got there in the first place."

Multiple calls to Saint Luke Academy were not returned. A representative of Saint Luke's Church, which is affiliated with the school, had no comment on the theft or how the women were able to get into the building.
