RIVER NORTH — Continuing the tradition of honoring the community's best commercial neighbors, the River North Business Association awarded honors to five businesses last week.
River North Gym, the Merchandise Plaza fitness center that aims to be "Chicago's friendliest health club," was named best business or service.
Also recognized was best new restaurant John Barleycorn River North, which recently hosted the River North Residents' Association's annual meeting, and best restaurant Sullivan's Steakhouse.
Cityscape Bar was honored as the best entertainment operation, and Merchandise Mart was named the neighborhood's best sustainable business.
The River North Business Association is an alliance of hundreds of businesses that work together to encourage commerce in River North, advocating for everything from summer street fairs to sidewalk repair in the neighborhood.
