Three Young Children Injured in Car Accident on West Side

CHICAGO — Five people — including three young children — were injured in a three-car wreck Thursday evening in Austin, fire officials said.

The accident occurred near the intersection of West Chicago Avenue and North LaClaire Avenue about 8:30.

A 35-year-old woman was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital with serious injuries. Another adult was taken to Loretto Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

An 18-month-old child was taken to Mt. Sinai with critical injuries, while a 6-year-old with serious injuries and a 5-year-old with minor injuries were taken to the same hospital, fire officials said.
