
CHICAGO — A woman died and two people were injured in a car crash early Wednesday in South Chicago, police said.
The vehicle was speeding in the 8800 block of South Chicago Avenue just before 4 a.m. when it struck a light pole, police said.
A woman in her 20s was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 4:30 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
The woman was later identified by the Medical Examiner's Office as Marsela Castillo, 26, of the 11100 block of South Avenue O in East Side.
The two other car occupants were transported in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Advocate Christ Medical Center, according to authorities.
