LINCOLN PARK — A DePaul University student was knocked in the head by two men after leaving the school's fitness center Monday night, the school's public safety department said.

The university sent an email alert to students shortly after midnight reporting that the student was walking home from the Ray Meyer Fitness Center when two men came behind him and hit him in the back of the head at 11:20 p.m.

The student fell to the ground at 1230 W. Belden Ave. after he was struck, but the two attackers fled when the victim yelled, according to the alert.

The alert urged students to be aware of their surroundings and to call the university's security service to escort them if needed on Lincoln Park campus.
