OLD TOWN — Come June, Old Town residents will be able to pick up sushi from one of the city's top chefs at a new grocery store on Wells Street.

Chef Takashi Yagihashi of Takashi in Bucktown and River North's Slurping Turtle fame, has partnered with the Plum Market and will oversee the store's sushi station at 1233 N. Wells St.

The full-service, 27,000-square-foot grocery store is set to open in early June on the first floor of the luxury 16-story apartment development, 1225 Old Town.

Yagihashi competed on Bravo's Top Chef Masters and was named James Beard Foundation's best chef in the Midwest region in 2003.

The "Tabo Sushi by Takashi," section of the store will feature made-to-order meals, and a variety of sushi rolls and maki.

Plum Market is a Midwest-based company with three stores in southeast Michigan. The store on Wells Street will be the company's first location in Chicago.
