CHICAGO — A police officer shot at but missed a fleeing robbery suspect early Thursday after the man brandished a weapon.

Officers responded to a call of a person shot about 3:10 a.m. on the 6800 block of South Peoria Street in Englewood, officials said.

Police on the scene found nobody shot, but were approached by a robbery victim who pointed out the suspected robber, who was still in the area, according to police.

The suspect started running and police chased after him, authorities said, and an officer shot at him when he brandished a gun. Police did not say early Thursday what kind of gun it was.

The suspect was arrested, the weapon was recovered and charges are pending, police said.
